Job Title: Deputy Systems Design Authority
Location: Cowes
Salary: Circa £70,000+ depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
1. Provide expert technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams working on complex radar systems, including oversight of costs and resources.
2. Apply and champion Systems Engineering principles across the full radar system lifecycle, from requirements capture to system integration, customer acceptance, and support.
3. Support system assurance activities to ensure radar solutions meet performance, safety, and customer expectations.
4. Define and deliver acceptance strategies to verify that system designs comply with technical and contractual requirements.
5. Lead technical reviews, verifying that engineering designs and documentation meet business, legislative, and customer standards.
6. Mentor and support the development of engineers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
7. Maintain expertise in Systems Engineering methodologies, including Model-Based Engineering, cyber security, and system safety practices.
Your skills and experiences:
1. Strong Systems Engineering expertise with a background in hardware design and development, acting as a Technical Authority.
2. Experience with requirements and configuration management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS Next, JIRA).
3. Deep understanding of engineering lifecycles and models (e.g., Waterfall, Agile).
4. Excellent communication skills to present complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
5. Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) with a STEM degree or equivalent experience.
