We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at Derwentside IRC. Derwentside IRC is an Immigration Removal Centre based in Consett, County Durham. The site supports up to 80 women aged 18+ with primary care, mental health and substance misuse services. GP sessions are similar to those in community settings and focus mainly on acute needs with a holistic and trauma-informed approach. The site is around a 25 minute drive from Durham and 30 minutes from Newcastle upon Tyne; suitable applicants will need to drive as public transport is limited in this area.
Hours
Session can take place Monday–Friday 8am–5pm.
Salary
This position is a bank role paying £81.98 per hour, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
Our General Practitioners are highly valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. As a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Deliver first-class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and develop knowledge in areas you wouldn’t usually experience within a practice or A&E environment
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis for patients’ needs and make timely decisions regarding future management
* Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team on site, as well as the patients you work with, with active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities

Qualifications required
* MBChB or MBBS
* Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
