CNC Machinist/Toolmaker – Skilled Machinist
Permanent – £40,000.00 – £44,000.00 per annum + exceptional benefits package!
Days – Monday to Thursday – Overtime available on Friday's!

They are a small but highly capable precision engineering company with a strong reputation for quality, craftsmanship and technical expertise. They specialise in tool and component design, CNC and conventional machining and bespoke engineering solutions.
Their workshop is fully equipped with state-of-the‑art machinery including Bridgeport high‑speed machining centres, HAAS 4th/5th axis equipment, Hurco and XYZ Proturn lathes, supported by Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD/CAM technology.
They take pride in precision, attention to detail and supporting their clients with engineered solutions that meet the most demanding specifications.
The Role
They are seeking a motivated, driven and passionate engineer to join their small, close‑knit team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience in CNC programming, setting and operating (Heidenhain/Haas/Hurco or similar controls) and a solid understanding of manual machining and toolmaking principles.
You will work on a variety of low‑volume, high‑precision components and tooling, often to tight tolerances, across sectors such as aerospace, automotive and advanced manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
* Programming, setting and operating CNC milling and turning machines (Heidenhain, HAAS, Hurco, XYZ).
* Interpreting engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
* Producing high‑precision tools, jigs, fixtures and components to exacting standards.
* Using Fusion 360 for CAD/CAM programming and toolpath generation.
* Operating manual milling and turning machines when required.
* Collaborating with colleagues on design for manufacture and continuous improvement.
* Maintaining a clean, safe and efficient working environment.
About You
* Time‑served engineer or equivalent qualification (Apprentice, HNC, etc.).
* Proven background in CNC machining (3‑, 4‑, or 5‑axis experience desirable).
* Skilled in Heidenhain or Fanuc controls.
* Experience in toolmaking, precision components or aerospace/automotive engineering preferred.
* Able to work from minimal instruction and take ownership of work from programming to inspection.
* Strong problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
* A positive attitude, flexibility and team spirit are essential.
