Overview
The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring stock availability to meet customer demand while optimising inventory levels, reducing obsolescence, and driving overall supply chain efficiency. This position serves as a vital connection between procurement, suppliers, warehouse operations, and sales teams to ensure seamless product flow through the distribution network.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain material planning parameters (e.g. safety stock, lead times, reorder points) in ERP/MRP systems.
* Monitor demand forecasts and customer orders to create accurate material plans and maintain optimal inventory levels.
* Collaborate with procurement to manage purchase orders, monitor supplier performance, and resolve shortages or delays.
* Work with warehouse, logistics, and sales teams to coordinate stock availability, inbound deliveries, and order fulfilment.
* Produce regular reports on inventory, supplier performance, and forecast accuracy, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and service levels.

Essential
* Previous experience in material planning, inventory management, or procurement (preferably within distribution or wholesale).
* Working knowledge of CRM systems.
* Strong computer literacy and analytical skills.
* Understanding of supply chain and procurement best practices.
Desirable
* CIPS qualification (or currently working towards).
* Experience in a data-driven or ERP/MRP-led environment
