Job description
Our client, a leader in the Defence and Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled Weapon System Equipment Project Engineer to join their dynamic team. If you are an experienced engineer looking for a unique opportunity to develop advanced Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW) systems, this role is perfect for you. You will have the chance to contribute to exciting projects like the renowned DragonFire programme, which is pushing the boundaries of weapon system development in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing interface with external partners, both programmatically and technically
2. Overseeing the acceptance and delivery of the Beam Director sub-system, including its final assembly, integration, and test
3. Supporting the functional integration of the Beam Director within the broader sub-system definition
4. Driving project development to advance the DragonFire programme
Job Requirements:
5. Extensive experience in weapons, systems engineering, and project engineering
6. Proven track record of complex sub-system delivery and integration
7. Ability to operate in the early lifecycle of a project, drive technical direction, and clarify stakeholder needs
8. Experience working with third-party suppliers and developing technical statements of work
9. Capability to develop complex electrical equipment or subsystems ensuring compliance with project requirements
10. Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
11. Leadership in technical work packages alongside experienced project managers
