Buckingham Futures is currently supporting a local authority client in Western Scotland in their search for an experienced Environmental Health professional to join their team on an interim basis.
This is a varied opportunity offering exposure across the full remit of environmental health, with a particular emphasis on frontline service delivery and statutory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver a broad range of statutory environmental health functions. Respond to service requests across multiple disciplines:
* Public Health
* Statutory Nuisance
* Environmental Protection
* Food Safety
* Health & Safety
* Licensing and Planning Consultations
Conduct inspections, investigations, and enforcement activity where required. Provide professional advice to businesses, stakeholders, and the public. Support the wider environmental health service as needed.
About the Role
Hybrid working model (combination of on‑site and remote). Requirement to attend within the local authority area approximately 2–3 days per week. Flexible working hours (28–35 hours per week). No line management responsibilities.
Requirements
* Fully qualified Environmental Health Officer
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a UK local authority (or in an agency capacity within a similar setting)
* Strong working knowledge across core environmental health disciplines
* Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
* Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
Contract Details
* Initial contract period with potential for extension
* Inside IR35
* Start date: ASAP
