Davidstow Shift, 3-month FTC SDUK's brands include the Nations favourite cheese brand Cathedral City plus other well-known butter & spreads (Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly, Wensleydale, and Sheese), functional ingredients and dairy free products. This Cheese Packer position is one where you will gain experience of the cheese-making process, supporting the quality of product being packaged before being sent off to mature. Your responsibilities will span utilising computers to operating the machinery, tracking data and analysis of the cheese coming through, ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality products. There may also be manual handling responsibilities, occasionally lifting 20kg blocks of cheese when required. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience within food preparation environments. Shift Pattern: 3 on 3 off, days and nights. 7 7 FTC: 3-months Salary: £15 p/h YOULL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY Operating cheese packing equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production instruction Being hands-on in the event of downtime/breakdown Maintain cheese quality by manually handling cheese at 20kg and manually boxing up to 50 tonnes at 10 tonnes an hour Undertaking process monitoring, keeping accurate records, and taking the necessary corrective action to maintain cheese line efficiencies and packaging quality Understanding the need for, and carrying out, hygiene and housekeeping requirements within the cheese department in accordance with relevant schedules and food safety requirements Identifying and communicating opportunities to improve working methods YOURE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU ARE Someone who has demonstrable experience working within a food production environment, following recipes, and/or can display a passion for the food and the products we produce is ideal. Knowledgeable with basic IT skills. eg. Ability to use a PC/HMI (with keyboard skills) with additional knowledge of Word and Excel an advantage Efficient with problem solving skills Able to communicate and work alone and as part of a team Aware of basic food hygiene Aware of health and safety procedures and completion of IOSH working safety We support employment equity.
