What is the job role?
Based at Plas Dol y Moch Outdoor Education Centre in the heart of Eryri, North Wales, you will be part of the Coventry Outdoors team, helping to deliver inspiring outdoor adventure learning experiences to a range of groups visiting the Centre, including young people, schools, families and adults. Through a wide range of adventurous activities within a residential setting, you will support participants to develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and independence while enjoying the unique opportunities offered by the mountains, lakes, rivers and underground environments of Eryri.
As an experienced Outdoor Education Tutor, you will plan and deliver high-quality, engaging and safe programmes that meet the needs of a diverse range of groups. You will be expected to use your professional judgement, technical expertise and enthusiasm for outdoor learning to create meaningful experiences that challenge and support participants in equal measure.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as such, appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will contribute to all aspects of centre life, including some residential duties, equipment checks and maintenance, and helping to maintain the welcoming and supportive environment for which Plas Dol y Moch is renowned. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in continuing a long tradition of adventure education, enabling young people to learn, grow and achieve through real experiences in the outdoors.
Please note these positions are term-time-only working an average of 28 or 24 hours per week across the school term, with salary paid on a pro rata basis. In addition, staff programmed to work overnight duties (approximately 26 per year) receive an additional allowance, currently around £40 per duty.
