We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic Band 3 HCA to join our team on Ward 8A. This is a great opportunity to join our friendly and hard‑working team.
Responsibilities
* Provide high standards of nursing care and support the nursing team.
* Contribute to the management of aggressive and abusive behaviour.
* Carry out cannulation and venepuncture training when required.
* Perform general bed making, clean bed preparedness and operation bed management following Trust policy.
* Clear and maintain clean vacated bed spaces and prepare them for use according to ward/unit protocol.
* Prepare used linen bags for collection by porters and ensure adequate supply of linen bags/skips.
* Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas.
* Safely dispose of clinical waste and sharps in accordance with Trust policy.
* Familiarise yourself with Trust policy and procedures for reporting clinical incidents.
* Attend to the needs of visitors and patients, particularly those who may be distressed or bereaved.
* Care for patients’ property, including valuables, in accordance with Trust policy.
* Obtain demographic details and social history from patients/visitors to assist in the admission process.
* Provide support and assistance to new and junior members of staff.
Qualifications
* Experienced HCA, currently working towards or holding NVQ Level 3.
* Enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Passion for providing high standards of nursing care and eagerness to develop further.
* Ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team and overcome communication difficulties.
Workplace: Ward 8A – a fast‑paced 19‑bed infectious diseases unit at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
