Job Description
We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will take ownership of store activities by managing duty shifts, coordinating a team to ensure a clean and well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
Since the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
You will have a strong understanding of your store's performance and be the specialist in implementing practical improvements by taking a hands-on approach.
With your guidance, the store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
You will be Responsible For
* Coordinating the team to deliver a seamless shopping experience in the community.
* Opening and closing the store, completing duty cover, and making decisions that prioritize customer service, colleagues' safety, and store security.
* Acting as the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for daily operational issues.
* Supporting the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to foster an inclusive atmosphere.
* Ensuring the store is always clean, tidy, and well-presented.
* Prioritizing the replenishment of products important to our customers.
* Ensuring point of sale and shelf edge labels are accurate and reflect high standards.
* Addressing overcharges immediately and preventing reoccurrences.
* Managing queues proactively to provide a positive shopping experience.
* Coordinating colleagues' tasks, ensuring they meet daily priorities and have appropriate breaks.
* Being knowledgeable about store operations and leading practical improvements.
* Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same.
* Communicating effectively with the team and keeping them informed.
* Looking for ways to simplify operations and sharing ideas with the Store Manager.
* Always prioritizing the customer and tailoring service to meet their needs.
* Resolving customer queries promptly and leaving them satisfied.
* Recognizing colleagues who deliver excellent service.
* Identifying and removing obstacles to service delivery.
* Resolving colleague queries in the Store Manager's absence or escalating as needed.
* Ensuring appropriate staffing, including covering short-term absences or sickness.
* Being a Keyholder responsible for store security, including alarm call-outs.
* Monitoring and acting on internal communications promptly.
* Balancing service and replenishment duties and feeding back store issues to the Manager.
* Supporting the Store Manager with absence management and conducting return-to-work interviews.
* Building relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, seeking advice, and engaging in coaching opportunities.
* If the store has a Post Office Local, your duties will include managing daily operations of the Post Office. You will need to pass a financial and criminal background check; failure to do so will result in withdrawal of the job offer.
