DESCRIPTION:
As a QC Technician at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Basingstoke, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products. You will be part of our mission to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out Quality Control Testing in accordance with Oxoid test specifications and methods. Your work will directly impact the quality of our microbiology products, which are used in critical applications across healthcare, food safety, and environmental monitoring.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Carry out Quality Control Testing in accordance with Oxoid test specifications and methods, including but not limited to:
Level 1, 2, and 3 testing methods
Media preparation
Completing OOS reports and assisting with investigations
2. Record and maintain training records
3. Plan, track, and control the progress of products under test, providing accurate availability dates to planning and customer services
4. Alert senior personnel of product problems/failures and assist with further investigation
5. Ensure all test results are recorded within the SAP Quality Management System
6. Perform cleaning, waste management, consumable replenishing, and use of autoclaves
7. Ensure processes and procedures are carried out in line with the laboratory and company Quality Systems
8. Build and maintain effective working relationships to ensure robust teamwork cross-functionally and with key stakeholders
9. Take direction from the QC Team Leader, Lead Scientist, and Senior Scientist regarding prioritization of finished product and raw material testing
10. Engage in continuous improvement using PPI lean methodology, including standard work and tier meetings
11. Role-model the Thermo Fisher 4I Values and use as a day-to-day guide in decision making
12. Fulfill the responsibilities of the position as defined in the Oxoid Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and associated Codes of Practice
Education and Skills:
13. Level 6 educational qualification or equivalent in Microbiology, Biology or related subject (Study towards level 6 or QBE will also be considered)
14. Effective planning and organizational skills
15. High attention to detail and a systematic approach
16. Drive for results - Delivering consistent results by being willing to take action, demonstrating interpersonal agility, planning efficiently, and setting priorities
17. Good numeracy skills and ability to read and follow methods/SOPs accurately
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
18. Previous experience of QC testing within a microbiology laboratory environment
19. Composure – Able to remain calm and work methodically under pressure
20. Significant experience in using SAP and MS Office software packages
21. Problem-solving skills - Effective in technical and organizational troubleshooting to root cause
22. Strong communication skills - Able to craft collaborative relationships by developing strong work relationships, displaying integrity, and building trust across functions
23. Experience in basic laboratory skills and techniques (pipetting, swabbing, streaking, pouring plates, etc.)
