The Opportunity
We are seeking a permanent Lead Bridge Engineer to join our Amey Consulting team in Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, with shared office space and remote work options. We welcome applications from Lead Engineers across these regions.
Our Structures Team works on major civil engineering projects across Scotland, with project values exceeding £1bn.
We manage long-term contracts like the Southwest and Northeast Trunk Road Network Management, offering opportunities for professional growth and involvement in significant engineering projects.
The Role
The Lead Bridge Engineer will support the Design team and liaise with Transport Scotland. Responsibilities include leading a team, producing and checking designs, managing project budgets, liaising with clients, and contributing to bids and work-winning activities. Health and safety practices are a key focus.
What You Will Bring
* Experience in a senior engineering role with technical expertise
* Ability to produce and review engineering designs independently
* Knowledge of health, safety, and welfare management, including CDM regulations
* Experience as a main engineering contact, e.g., CRE for Network Rail
* Proficiency with relevant software and analytical tools
* Understanding of risk assessment and management
* Possibly Chartered or Incorporated status
