This is a “fast track” opportunity to become the managerial lead for the business within a few years. The successful candidate will have a technology background (ideally in electronics), be very numerate and with experience of or a desire to develop management and leadership skills. The business founder and managing director wishes to retire and would like to hand over responsibility for the business to the successful candidate following a handover period. Responsibilities: * Running the company’s test and calibration laboratory (1 engineer presently). * Managing the business (6 staff in all). * Developing and tracking budgets (with the managing director). * Providing daily management and business leadership. * HR, health and safety (both supported by our contract with Citation). “Nice To Have” Skills and Experience: * Experience with metrology calibration * Basic understanding of electronic systems. * Problem solving to direct instrumentation repairs * Knowledge of temperature standards such as UKAS LAB11 and ITS-90 The Company Metrosol was founded in 2004 and is now recognised as the supplier of the most accurate instrumentation for temperature metrology and precision measurement with instruments capable of measuring down to 30 ppb (phone number removed)%), equivalent to ±7.5 μK. Metrosol’s achievements were recognised in 2017 when it received a Queen’s award for Enterprise in the Innovation category. In 2019, its work on the development of the world’s first practical Johnson noise thermometer was recognised when the current technical lead (Paul Bramley) received the Callendar medal from the Institute of Measurement and Control. The company is a micro business with only 6 staff currently on the payroll. However, it collaborates closely with subcontractors and other organisations such as the National Physical Laboratory, so that its influence and reach is extensive. Metrosol works closely with Isothermal Technology Limited (50 staff in UK), the leading manufacturer of temperature metrology equipment, which is Metrosol’s exclusive route to market.
