About this opportunity

We are seeking a Senior level Health and Safety professional to join our expanding UK team. You will be responsible for monitoring and advising health & safety issues relating to a multi-million-pound demolition and new build construction project, from project initiation to completion.

You will be based at our client’s site in Barnet, London for the duration of the project (circa 12 months), and following the project work alongside colleagues in any of our offices within region.

Ideally, you will be able to commence a new role by mid- August 2025 due to project timescales.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Supporting business unit directors in delivering business objectives;
* Monitoring and working with the principal contractor appointed to complete the project;
* Attending regular meetings with the principal contractor and project team;
* Providing support and assistance to the client, principal contractor and contractors on site;
* Positively engaging with our client and developing, growing and maintaining our relationship;
* Delivering a high-quality service which ensures that services meet our client’s requirement;
* Managing the client’s health safety obligations on the project to deliver a high quality service;
* Advising and assisting the client with their duties under the CDM regulations and other construction related health and safety standards, regulations and legislation;
* Cooperating with others involved with the project whilst maintaining high client safety standards;
* Facilitating good communication between the client, designers and contractors;
* Liaising with and monitoring the principal contractor regarding ongoing design and construction work;
* Producing and presenting regular reports to our main client – this will involve prompt flash reports of major issues as well as comprehensive weekly and monthly reports detailing all aspects of health and safety management on site;
* Conducting accident / incident reviews with root cause analysis as required
* Mentoring and coaching employees so that they realise their full potential;
* Preparing bids for services;
* Advising directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or will arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance;

Who we’re looking for:

We are seeking an individual to be based at our client’s site in Mill Hill, Barnet, London 5 days per week for the duration of the projects (circa 12months). Once the project has been completed, you will move on to another project and likely be based at our central London Gleeds office, or other regional offices.

You must have a NEBOSH construction qualification (or equivalent) and be able to obtain Security Clearance (a client necessity). You will also have extensive site based experience working on a large construction project and be able to use safety software with training.

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
* Sound construction related health and safety management experience post NEBOSH Construction qualification or equivalent;
* Previous demolition experience is desirable;
* Experience of monitoring safety standards on behalf of a client on a live construction site;
* Cohesive knowledge of construction methods and materials;
* Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience of construction related health and safety management;
* Thorough understanding of health and safety legislation relating to construction;
* Excellent communication skills – both oral and written;
* Methodical way of thinking and approach to work;
* Good problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills;
* Good ICT skills.
Qualifications
* NEBOSH Construction and General Certificates
* Valid UK driving license with access to own vehicle due to remote site location
