Role Purpose
The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support children aged 3–5 across Nursery and Reception classes, working closely with the EYFS lead and class teachers. This role involves supporting both the learning and emotional development of all pupils, with a particular focus on SEN and EAL learners.
Responsibilities include facilitating play-based and structured learning, supporting small-group interventions, and fostering a positive, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in delivering EYFS curriculum activities, including phonics, early literacy, numeracy, and creative play
* Provide one-to-one and small group support for children with SEN or EAL needs
* Encourage independence, social skills, positive behaviour, and emotional regulation
* Support classroom routines, transitions, snack times, and outdoor play activities
* Observe, assess, and record pupil progress in line with EYFS learning goals
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, external specialists, and parents to ensure consistent support
* Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety standards at all times
* Support children’s emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning
The Ideal Candidate

* Has experience or interest in early years or EYFS settings
* Understands child development and the EYFS framework
