Now, we’re looking for an experienced and people-focused Production Manager to join our Tubes Operations team at Hartlepool and help shape the future of our 20” Mill. At Tata Steel, the Hartlepool 20” Mill is a key part of our UK Tubes operations, producing over 200,000 tonnes of tubular products for the construction and energy sectors. This role offers a great opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership role, influencing performance, safety and future investment in a fast-paced industrial setting. What you will do In this role, you’ll lead the daily operations of a key production area at the 20” Mill. Your focus will be on delivering safely, efficiently, and to customer requirements – but just as important will be how you motivate, coach, and engage the team around you. You’ll oversee all aspects of shift and area management, planning production to meet schedule targets and applying your leadership skills to deliver productivity, quality and cost objectives. You’ll play a key part in performance improvement, people development, and driving cultural change. This is a wide-ranging role, and your responsibilities will include: Creating and maintaining a safe and compliant working environment Directing daily production activities and delivering against key KPIs Supporting, motivating and developing a team of skilled operators Driving quality and customer satisfaction through close process control Managing WIP, stock levels and delivery priorities Coordinating with engineering and technical teams to improve asset condition Taking a hands-on role in safety improvement, communication and procedural compliance Supporting continuous improvement projects and contributing to capital investment There is a clear opportunity for future progression into a wider operational leadership role, covering day-to-day activities across the full site. What you will need We’re looking for a driven and confident production leader with experience in a high-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll need: A degree or HNC (or equivalent experience) in engineering or a relevant discipline Experience managing multi-skilled teams and delivering against production KPIs A strong understanding of safety procedures and manufacturing best practice A people-first mindset and proven leadership skills Excellent communication and decision-making abilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production/materials systems Experience with quality control and process efficiency improvement A background in engineering and an understanding of steel manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
