About The Fashion Museum Bath
Fashion Museum Bath holds one of the world’s leading collections of fashion, spanning 400 years of human creativity, from 1600 to the present day. It is an exciting time for the Fashion Museum as we undertake a major capital project to open a new Fashion Museum (relocated from the old site). Opening in 2030 the new Museum will transform access to the Collection, with dynamic exhibitions, displays and programming.
About The Role
We are seeking to appoint a part‑time Textile Conservator and Costume Mounter to join the Fashion Museum team at a key moment in the Museum’s transformation. The focus of the role is on essential and strategic conservation and care of the collection.
The post‑holder will lead on conservation, including undertaking practical conservation treatments, contracting additional specialist support and completing condition assessments. They will work closely with the Collections Manager on the large‑scale Collections re‑housing project and advise on IPM and environmental monitoring. They will also lead on costume mounting for loans, photography and engagement projects, and contribute to the pre‑opening programme.
This role will have some involvement with the development of the new Museum. However, a separate procurement process is envisaged to support conservation and mounting for the new exhibitions and displays.
