Client Accountant / Portfolio Manager

Location: Hybrid remote (Sheffield)
Salary: £25,000 – £31,000 per annum (DOE)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

Howard James Recruitment are delighted to be working with a forward-thinking accountancy firm who are looking for two Client Accountants / Portfolio Managers to join their growing team.

In this role, you’ll take full ownership of your own portfolio of limited companies and sole traders. You’ll be supported by a dedicated bookkeeper, VAT specialist, and admin team, allowing you to focus on building strong client relationships and delivering accurate, compliant accounts.

Key Responsibilities

*

Manage your own portfolio of clients (Limited Companies & Sole Traders)

*

Act as the main point of contact for client queries, emails, and calls

*

Review bookkeeping and prepare year-end adjustments and journals

*

Produce accounts to filing stage, liaising with VAT and admin teams

*

Maintain professional and long-term client relationships

*

Ensure all work is accurate, compliant, and delivered within deadlines

What We’re Looking For

*

Minimum 2 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice (essential)

*

Confident preparing accounts for Ltd companies and sole traders from TB to final

*

AAT Level 4, ACCA part-qualified, or qualified by experience

*

Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, and other cloud systems

*

Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach

*

Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing your own workload
