The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. We have teams focused on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team working and learning together.
* Financial Services: Private equity, infrastructure, real estate funds, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds. UK, European, and Global strategies.
* Corporates: FTSE 100 and 250 companies, supporting strategic acquisitions, carve outs, de-mergers, disposals, joint ventures in the UK and cross-border.
* National Markets: UK mid-market corporates and PE funds investing across key sectors to grow local economies.
The Deal Advisory Tax team offers services across the deal spectrum: buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assist, refinancing, listing support. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, working with diverse clients and deals. We help clients understand tax issues and structure transactions, focusing on value maximization throughout the investment cycle, often involving multiple countries and taxes.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Partners/Directors on complex transactions to deliver high-quality advice.
* Support in pursuing new opportunities, proposals, and pitches.
* Develop and maintain client relationships.
* Act as a key contact for clients, legal advisers, and KPMG teams.
* Coach colleagues, collaborate, and continue learning.
* Prepare/oversee technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
* Analyze tax documents/data, highlight issues, and explain their commercial impact.
* Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input.
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments.
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
* Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership.
The Person
* Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent.
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, interested in transactions.
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
* Strong UK corporate tax knowledge, awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
* Analytical, curious, commercial problem-solver.
* Excellent project management, teamwork, and initiative.
* Proactive in business development.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships, lead and develop colleagues.
* Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
