A design-led bespoke joinery manufacturer, known for operating in a variety of sectors including sports stadiums, distinct office environments, courtrooms, luxurious hotels, and high-end restaurants, is looking for a committed and detail-oriented individual to fulfill the role of Designer as part of their existing team.
This is a full-time role at 40 hours per week, requiring office hours from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.
This is an in-person, office-based role, at their design and manufacturing site in West Yorkshire.
The nature of the role requires commitment to hit weekly deadlines to satisfy client drawing approval submissions and production drawing targets.
This vacancy is for an experienced Furniture Designer with the following skills:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in producing detailed technical drawings of bespoke furniture for manufacture.
5+ years of Solidworks experience.
A strong understanding of furniture production methods and materials including veneers, laminates, solid surface materials, metalwork, and upholstery.
A strong ability to keep organized with information across several items simultaneously.
Be an open and conscientious team player – listening to others’ advice and experience and taking it on board.
Driven to be thorough and accurate, consistently.
Good communication skills both in the form of updating managers and project leads, as well as sketching or modeling to communicate design ideas/details.
The key responsibility of the role is:
The efficient and accurate delivery of individual items of bespoke joinery, which fit into a wider design scheme; being mindful of client requirements, material costs, manufacturing capabilities, installation limitations, and drawing deadlines.
Other responsibilities include:
Generating clear and accurate approval and production drawings to the highest standards.
Carry out model reviews with workshop staff to agree and sign off design & details.
Researching and integrating components/fittings.
Producing a bill of materials/requisition to cover all materials and fittings on your item.
Generating and self-checking a cut list and corresponding drawing to be issued to the workshop for manufacture.
Consider site conditions and restrictions to inform design and buildability/assembly on site.
