About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND English Teacher to work within the SEN provision of a mainstream school in Stalybridge. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible, supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and attachment disorders.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible English lessons tailored to meet the needs of students who require additional emotional and behavioural support. The provision offers a structured and supportive environment, with a strong focus on building positive relationships and re‑engaging learners with education.
You will be supported in the classroom by three experienced Teaching Assistants, allowing you to focus on high‑quality teaching and targeted interventions.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver differentiated English lessons to students with SEMH and attachment needs
* Create a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment
* Work collaboratively with three Teaching Assistants to support student learning and behaviour
* Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
* Monitor and assess progress, adapting teaching approaches as needed
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Experience working with SEND, particularly SEMH and/or attachment needs
* Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills
* A patient, consistent, and empathetic approach
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
