Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Greater Manchester – Competitive Salary + Benefits
A specialist engineering company is looking to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its design team based in Greater Manchester. The role involves delivering electrical building services designs for highly regulated environments including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences and cleanrooms.
The Role:
You will be responsible for electrical design from concept through to detailed design, with support during commissioning where required. Working as part of a multi-discipline team, you will also help support and develop junior engineers.
Projects include laboratories, cleanrooms, pilot plants and sterile manufacturing facilities designed to GMP and ISO 14644 standards. You will attend client meetings, carry out site surveys, and ensure all designs comply with current legislation, CDM regulations and quality procedures.
Key Responsibilities:

Electrical building services design from concept to installation-ready detail
*
Develop designs suitable for procurement, including sizing, selection and routing
*
Use TRIMBLE or ElecOM design software with REVIT support
*
Liaise with clients, specialist suppliers and statutory authorities
*
Produce clear, accurate design documentation in line with ISO 9001
Technical Experience:
*
HV/LV switchgear and switchboards
*
Sub-mains and power distribution
*
Cleanroom power and lighting systems
*
Fire alarms, data and WiFi systems
*
Security, CCTV and access control
*
Lighting controls, door interlocking, BMS and EMS
*
Earthing, static dissipative flooring and external services
What You’ll Bring:
*
Minimum HNC or equivalent in Building Services (degree preferred)
*
Around 10 years’ experience or equivalent in electrical building services design
*
Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare environments preferred although any highly regulated industry is okay
*
Strong knowledge of CDM and design risk assessments
