The Role
The firm benefits from a talented team of some of the best Solicitors, who are eminent within their profession. They are continually expanding and are now seeking to develop their team further by adding Criminal Duty Solicitors, preferably with LAA Crime Category Supervisor status, to supervise, manage, and lead a team.
The successful candidate will manage a heavy caseload of very serious offences and proactively lead and manage a team of highly dedicated lawyers. Responsibilities include police station attendances both in and outside office hours, court appearances for advocacy at first hearings, interim hearings, and trials, as well as meticulous case preparation and litigation. The role also involves supervising other Criminal Duty Solicitors and allocating their work while ensuring compliance with the 2022 Standard Crime Contract. This is a challenging and demanding role but also highly rewarding. Despite the firm's growth, they maintain a small family firm ethos and seek an individual who will complement and enhance their existing teams.
The Person
The ideal candidate will have the ability to guide, manage, and lead others, providing constructive criticism and feedback to improve team performance. They should be able to work independently, use their initiative, and be self-disciplined. The candidate must be robust, tenacious in their pursuit of justice, and capable of handling the mental dexterity required for criminal defence work. This role involves working unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends, to represent suspects detained at police stations and in court. The candidate should be fully committed and passionate about criminal defence work, taking pride in their profession and the results they achieve. The role includes participation in the out-of-hours rota.
