Fire & Security Systems Designer £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience, Burgess Hill or London, Full-time, Permanent, 20 days holiday Bank Holidays (rising with service to 25 days) Birthday off, Profit Share Scheme, Pension scheme The Role We are working with a well-established fire systems business operating across high-end commercial and residential projects to recruit a Fire & Security Systems Designer. This is a full-time, permanent role based at either their Burgess Hill Head Office or London Satellite Office, with travel to sites across the UK. The successful candidate will join a collaborative technical team and play a key role in delivering compliant and coordinated life safety system designs. Key responsibilities include: Designing fire alarm, security, voice alarm, and related life safety systems to British Standards (BS 5839, BS 8629, BS 6266, etc.) Producing design documentation, device layout drawings, cable schedules and BOQs Liaising with clients, consultants, and site teams to ensure design compliance Conducting site surveys and attending design/progress meetings Supporting tender and project delivery teams with technical input Ensuring designs meet regulatory and client specifications Using AutoCAD and other design tools to produce accurate layouts Providing technical advice and design validation Coordinating with internal departments to ensure smooth project delivery Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and innovations Requirements Previous experience in fire alarm and/or security system design (Level 3) is highly desirable, along with a good working knowledge of relevant British Standards and industry regulations. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and design software tools is desirable. FIA or equivalent technical qualifications are highly desirable. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are essential. This role could suit someone who has worked as a Fire Systems Designer, Security Systems Designer, or Life Safety Systems Engineer.
