About the role
The Marine Autonomous and Robotic Systems (MARS) group at the National Oceanography Centre develops, operates, and maintains the UK’s marine science robotic fleet, including AUVs, subsea gliders, unmanned surface vehicles, ROVs and Towed Underwater Vehicles. We operate worldwide to support marine science and commercial customers. Within MARS, the Development Teams design the next generation of robotic systems and supporting infrastructure to meet ongoing scientific data gathering requirements. To meet growing production demand, MARS is creating a new production and support department to facilitate the needs of a growing sales order book and customer support demands. This role provides first line support to customers and ensures the vehicles are built to a high-quality standard. It is a crucial part of introducing professional production, quality control, documentation and support functions.
About you
You are an experienced quality engineer looking to apply your skills to ocean robots. You will have:
* A degree in a relevant field;
* Industry experience in engineering and manufacturing, ideally with small production runs;
* A high degree of quality control, safety protocols and rigorous process adherence;
* A proven ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.

Location
This position will be based in Southampton with good public transport links, cycle parking and free onsite car-parking with over 40 EV charging points. The NOC uses a hybrid working approach, with most positions allowing up to 2 days per week remote work. If you require a more flexible arrangement, please contact the recruitment team.
