Experienced Teaching Assistant
Location- Abertillery, NP13
Salary- £93/ day
Contract type- Flexible
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to work within a mainstream secondary school. The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers to help students access learning, build confidence, and engage positively with school life.
This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting young people with additional or individual learning needs in a mainstream educational setting.
About the Role
* Supporting teachers in delivering inclusive, differentiated lessons within the classroom.
* Working with students aged 11–16 (or 11–18, where applicable) in larger classroom settings and on a 1:1 basis or in small groups for those with ALN.
* Providing targeted academic support to help students remain focused and engaged with learning.
* Supporting students with emotional regulation, confidence, and social interaction where required.
* Promoting positive behaviour and contributing to a calm, safe, and structured learning environment.
* Acting as a consistent, approachable presence for students who require additional encouragement or reassurance.
Who We Are Looking For
* Individuals with experience supporting students with additional learning needs, ideally in a mainstream secondary school.
* A good understanding of how to support teachers and students in a classroom environment.
* Someone who is patient, calm, and empathetic, particularly in challenging situations.
* A proactive and enthusiastic individual who is keen to engage fully in school life.
* Reliability, consistency, and a positive attitude are essential.
Requirements
* Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply, support available).
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
* Previous experience in a learning support or classroom support role.
