A forward-thinking secondary school in North Tyneside is seeking a calm, resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs across KS3 and KS4.
This is a structured, well-led setting where behaviour systems are embedded, expectations are clear, and support staff are valued members of departments — not used as reactive cover.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group SEND support
* Work with pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and attachment needs
* Support pupils within mainstream lessons
* De-escalate low-level behaviour using consistent strategies
* Adapt tasks alongside class teachers
* Deliver targeted literacy or engagement interventions
* Help maintain focused, disruption-free classrooms
You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral leads and the SENCO to ensure pupils can access learning consistently.
The School Environment
* Clear behaviour policy with visible SLT presence
* Strong safeguarding and pastoral systems
* Structured SEND support
* Consistent routines across departments
* Collaborative staff culture
This is not a high-turnover setting. Staff stay because systems work.
