Main duties of the job
Lead and manage a theatre team, including cross‑cover for both DSU and Main Theatres.
Act as theatre coordinator when required, ensuring smooth and efficient running of daily theatre lists.
Support operational management of elective and emergency theatre lists.
Provide visible clinical leadership and act as a role model for high professional standards.
Deputise for the Band 7 in their absence.
Promote collaborative working across theatres and with the wider multidisciplinary team.
Contribute to demand, capacity, and workforce planning through collection and analysis of activity data.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
* NMC Registration/HCPC
* Recognised NMC/HCPC Teaching and Assessing Qualification
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
* Degree in nursing or health related subject, or equivalent experience
* Clinical leadership/management experience

EXPERIENCE
* Minimum 4‑5 years post registration experience in operating department practice and minimum of 2 years in operating theatres at a senior level
* An extensive knowledge of perioperative practice with expertise in specialist area
* Ability to independently prioritise and organise perioperative care
* Excellent knowledge of anatomy and applied physiology and an ability to teach formally and informally
* Evidence of a positive approach to implementing change in practice.
