Enhanced Access Health Care Assistant

Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborativeprovide Enhanced Primary Care Access to patients registered within local GPpractices, across North Lancashire and South Cumbria (Barrow, Ulverston, Kendal & Western Dales) The service is availableto registered patients during the week and weekends from various communitybased primary care hubs, strategically placed across the catchment area toprovide equity of access.
The service provides patients withaccess to a GP, a Practice Nurse or HCA via a pre-booked appointment forplanned or unscheduled presentations as an extension of their own surgeryoutside/inside of normal surgery hours.
Main duties of the job
The Enhanced Access Primary Care HCA will work alongside and support the service based primary health care team, delivering high quality health care appropriate to the needs of the local population. You will be supervised by all members of the nursing team, working within agreed protocols.

Job responsibilities
Main /Clinical Duties
Height/weight/body mass index assessments
Basicmedical history
HealthPromotion including advice on diet, exercise, smoking cessation Sexual Healthadvice.
CytologyScreening advice
Breastawareness advice
Smokingcessation sessions as intermediary advisor
Bloodpressure monitoring
Venepuncture
Assistwith routine screening of all asthma, COPD, diabetic and IHD patients
Assistwith Spirometry under supervision of primary care nurses
Urinalysis
ECGrecording
Actas chaperone/assist with clinical examination as required
Actas patients advocate promoting patients point of view to others
Maintainaccurate records of patient care in electronic format using correct codes
Reportchanges in condition of patient/areas of concern to relevant member of clinicalstaff and ensure documented action is taken
Tofollow relevant protocols, guidelines and best practice, e.g. local protocols,NICE guidance
GeneralResponsibilities

Qualifications
* Good General Education
* Qualified to NVQ Level 3
* Qualified in Phlebotomy
Experience
* Experience within a Health Care setting
* Experience in GP Practice
