Job Overview
As part of a partnership within the Paediatric ED at the DGH, it is vital to ensure the service operates in a safe, effective, and efficient way as part of a whole system. Foster a culture that encourages and enables individuals to have an active role in identifying, planning, and meeting their needs. Support strategic leadership in relation to service improvement and quality evaluation.
The Paediatric Liaison Service is essential to ensuring the needs of CYP presenting at ED with mental health and emotional issues are assessed promptly and appropriate responses are put in place, as part of the partnership between you and the ED Paediatric colleagues.
Vacancies
There are vacancies in three District General hospitals: Epsom General Hospital (1), Royal Surrey County Hospital (2), and St Peters Hospital (2).
Responsibilities
1. Provide credible clinical leadership supporting the management of CYP with mental health issues presenting to the ED, including those with challenging behaviour due to conditions like learning difficulties, Asperger's, and ADHD.
2. Improve patient experience, quality, and efficiency of service by focusing on CYP with mental health issues that can complicate care and discharge.
3. Ensure high-quality, research-based, CYP and family/carer-focused care for CYP with mental and physical health needs.
4. Support the wider paediatric nursing and medical team by arranging training to upskill professionals on managing CYP's mental health needs effectively.
5. Manage CYP presenting with mental health, emotional, and social care needs by coordinating between medical, nursing, and community teams.

Applicant Requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Person Specification
Qualifications: Degree-level clinical qualification, NMC registration.
Experience: At least 3 years post-qualifying, including 1 year as Band 6 in community, with experience in mental health assessments and working with CYP.
Desirable: Multi-agency work, training ability, understanding of family dynamics, safeguarding knowledge, care planning experience.
