Client/Child:
Ivy is a 13-year-old girl who lives at home with her Mum and Dad. She is engaging, active, and enjoys riding her bike, sensory play, and spending time with friends. Ivy has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, and she depends on 2:1 support to meet her needs. She is exploring communication aids to support her non-verbal communication. Ivy uses a wheelchair and follows the ethos of Conductive Education. Her home is fully adapted, including ceiling track hoists and equipment such as a walker. Ivy has a team of carers providing daily support, and now requires a SEN / SEND Nanny to support Ivy, her team, and her parents in a more dynamic role.
Overview of role:
The SEN / SEND Nanny will serve as the link between Ivy’s parents, school, care team, MDT, and other professionals to ensure Ivy receives the highest standard of care and support. Responsibilities include providing practical support to Ivy, assisting with her ADLs, therapy, social activities, medical needs, and supporting her in the school setting. The role also involves household tasks such as light chores, errands, shopping, and enabling Ivy’s Mum to return to work. You will manage Ivy’s diary and appointments and liaise with her care and case management team. This is an all-encompassing and evolving role, requiring an advocate who can coordinate all aspects of Ivy’s care.
Who this job would suit:
A highly organized, resilient SEN / SEND Nanny with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be confident, robust, fun, bubbly, caring, and kind. You should be adaptable and capable of handling many different tasks each day.
What’s great about this job:
Supporting Ivy is incredibly rewarding. She is an amazing young person full of determination and potential. The role offers ongoing support, training, and the chance to develop new skills. No two days are the same, and while challenging, the role is highly fulfilling.
