Clinical Nurse Specialist - Colorectal Cancer

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and motivated CNS to join our Colorectal Cancer CNS team.
The post holder will deliver specialist nursing triage and assessment service for patients referred to the Colorectal two‑week wait pathway, supporting surgical and non‑surgical oncology clinical pathways from diagnosis to end of treatment and ensuring seamless delivery of care across the whole patient pathway.
Main duties of the job
* Provide specialist advice, support and education to patients referred with suspected colorectal cancer under the guidance of senior CNS staff.
* Work alongside Band 7 CNSs, undertaking telephone assessments and using advanced clinical skills to assess patients and initiate appropriate investigation plans in line with agreed protocols.
* Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care throughout all stages of the pathway, including pre‑diagnostic support, holistic needs assessments, treatment review, follow‑up, and living with and beyond cancer.
* Support the wider team by offering guidance, supervision and training to peers and junior staff, promoting effective multidisciplinary working.
* Play an active role in service development through audit, patient feedback and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Provide flexibility to work across different locations and support CNS teams as service needs demand.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse (RGN)
* Evidence of recent CPD
* Relevant postgraduate education in colorectal cancer, oncology or palliative care
* Teaching degree
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Minimum of 3 years within the colorectal surgery or oncology treatment environment
* Excellent knowledge of colorectal cancer symptoms, treatments and complications
* Knowledge of the Cancer Faster Diagnostic Standard and its importance
* Experience of multi‑professional working
* Evidence of good communication skills
* Understanding of cancer MDT working
* Experience of cancer work in a variety of settings

Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum pro‑rata.
