Job Title: Finance Assistant Department: Finance Location: Head Office (Stafford) Position: Full Time Hours: 41.5 - Monday - Thursday 07:30-16:30 and Friday 07:30-15:30 Principle Purpose of Position: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day running of the Finance Department. The role covers a wide range of responsibilities including purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, and assisting with management accounts preparation. This position is key to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supporting the wider finance function, and contributing to business performance. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Purchase Ledger Process purchase invoices, ensuring correct coding and authorisation. Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies. Prepare payment runs in line with agreed terms and deadlines. Sales Ledger Raise sales invoices and credit notes in a timely manner. Allocate customer payments accurately. Maintain up-to-date records of customer accounts. Credit Control Monitor aged debtors and follow up overdue accounts. Liaise with customers to resolve queries and ensure timely payments. Escalate persistent payment issues to the Ledger Supervisor. Management Accounts Assistance Support month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations. Assist in the preparation of management reports and analysis. Provide ad hoc financial support and reporting as required. Skills and Experience: Previous experience in a finance or accounts role (essential). Strong knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and credit control. Familiarity with month-end processes and management accounts is advantageous. Good working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP) and MS Excel. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities. Qualifications Currently studying towards AAT Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent). Alternatively, qualified by experience in a similar role.
