What will you be doing?

Our customers, members, and communities are at the centre of everything we do. You’ll go above and beyond to ensure every customer receives the best experience at any time they need it. You’ll help maintain the strong rapport our colleagues have with members in our communities.
In a varied role, you’ll work closely as part of the management team, supporting the day-to-day running of the store.

Key responsibilities include:

* Managing performance, including conducting reviews and addressing poor performance
* Ensuring colleagues adhere to Society policies and procedures
* Taking responsibility for the store’s financial performance and compliance
* Managing absence, including back-to-work interviews and improvement meetings
* Understanding scheduling and productivity
* Training colleagues and maintaining records
* Communicating key messages and priorities to the team
* Prioritising tasks to maximise sales and meet customer expectations
* Leading change initiatives
* Ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed by all colleagues
* Maintaining colleague safety
* Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store

As you step into your new role as a team leader, you’ll undergo comprehensive training at one of our Difference Maker Academies. This program, lasting up to 4 weeks based on your experience, pairs you with an experienced Academy Mentor who leads high-performing teams and helps colleagues grow. This immersive environment equips you with the essential skills for your role and sets you up for long-term success with Central Co-op.

Our Difference Maker Academies are stores with excellent standards and management teams passionate about developing colleagues and helping them reach their potential.

You’ll be able to claim expenses for additional travel incurred during your Academy training.

How will I know if I am right for this role?

With previous Supervisor, Team Leader, or Duty Manager experience in a customer service environment, you’ll have a passion for delivering excellent service.

You should be enthusiastic, proactive, and adaptable, able to work at pace and with flexibility.

We seek individuals who take ownership of their development and can coach and develop talent within their team.

Open-minded and curious, you’ll stay aware of current and upcoming promotions, identifying opportunities for growth that benefit store performance and commercial success.

As a friendly and engaging team member, your love for talking with customers will naturally translate into delivering exceptional service daily. You’ll be a team player, building respectful, supportive, and empathetic relationships that facilitate teamwork and achievement.

You’ll guide your team to support ongoing progress and celebrate successes together.

You’ll make a positive difference in your community and motivate your team to be informed, motivated, and engaged.
