1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 9 SEN Support

An independent SEN school in Crawley is seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 9 student with a diagnosis of Autism and a background of early developmental trauma.
This student is a bright, funny, and engaging young person who thrives with the right support. The ideal candidate will be someone who can build trust, offer consistent emotional support, and help him stay regulated and engaged in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support across all lessons to help the student remain focused and comfortable in the learning environment.
* Implement strategies that support emotional regulation, routine, and positive behaviour.
* Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to deliver a tailored support plan.
* Promote a safe and structured environment to help the student feel secure and valued.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience supporting young people with ADHD, trauma, or social-emotional needs.
* A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional support.
* A strong understanding of the impact of early trauma on learning and behaviour.
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
