We’re looking for a safety-focused and qualified Plant Operative to join our busy Waste and Recycling Centre in Dartford. This hands-on role involves operating plant machinery and supporting the day-to-day site operations. If you hold a current NPORS, ITSSAR, or equivalent accredited certificate for operating a wheeled Materials Handler with elevating cab and want to work for an organisation that values safety, customer service, and sustainability, this is the role for you.

Why this role matters
As a Plant Operative, your work is essential to keeping the site operating safely and efficiently. You’ll be responsible for operating plant machinery, supporting customers on site, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. Your attention to health and safety and ability to work as part of a team ensures we continue to deliver high-quality recycling services to the local community.
What you’ll be doing
* Safely operating plant machinery in accordance with site procedures and company policies
* Conducting daily pre-use inspections and logging any faults or issues with site management
* Ensuring the machine is kept clean, inside and out, and maintained for safe use
* Supporting site cleanliness through sweeping, litter picking, and spill control
* Greeting customers, directing them, and ensuring a positive site experience
* Enforcing site safety rules and managing vehicle and pedestrian traffic
* Reporting health and safety concerns to supervisors or managers promptly
* Carrying out general Site Operative duties when not using plant equipment
What we’re looking for
* NPORS, ITSSAR, or equivalent accredited certificate for operating a wheeled Materials Handler with elevating cab (essential)
* A strong understanding of health and safety procedures and best practices
* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
* A proactive and responsible attitude to working in a team environment
* Friendly, approachable, and committed to excellent customer service
* Flexibility to work weekends—we are open 7 days per week
