A respected and inclusive secondary school in Cheltenham is seeking an experienced and compassionate SENCO to join its leadership team from September 2025. This full-time position is suited to a committed SENCO who believes passionately in inclusive education and who wants to make a real difference in the lives of students with additional needs.
This SENCO role comes with leadership responsibility and strategic influence across the school. The successful candidate will oversee SEND provision, lead a team of TAs, and work closely with staff, families, and external professionals to support student success.
Your responsibilities as SENCO will include:

Leading on all aspects of SEND strategy, planning, and provision

Coordinating EHCP processes, assessments, and interventions
*
Supporting staff with differentiation and inclusive classroom practice
*
Managing a skilled team of teaching assistants and learning support staff
*
Liaising with outside agencies including educational psychologists and local authorities
*
Promoting mental health and emotional wellbeing across the school
*
Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
*
Monitoring student progress and adapting strategies as needed
Essential for this role:
*
QTS and SENCO qualification (or willingness to complete one)
*
Substantial experience working with students with SEND
*
A strategic mindset with strong leadership and communication skills
*
A belief in inclusive, student-centred education
