The role is based at Dishforth Medical Centre, Dishforth Airfield. This is a full‑time position (37.5 hours per week). Part‑time candidates may be considered on a job‑share basis – the salary will be pro‑rata for part‑time hours.
Salary: £31,049 to £37,796 per annum (pro rata for part‑time).

Responsibilities
The post holder will deliver primary healthcare nursing within a multidisciplinary team, including occupational health elements. Key responsibilities include:
* Provide safe, evidence‑based, cost‑effective, and individualised patient care.
* Lead preventative health programmes such as travel, occupational vaccination clinics, new patient screening, over‑40s screening, and audiometry.
* Manage care for patients with chronic illnesses (asthma, diabetes, coronary heart disease, hypertension), ensuring maintenance of the chronic disease register.
* Perform technical nursing treatments and procedures for patients with complex/specialist needs (wound care, sutures removal, ECG, audiometry, ear care).
* Assist the Senior Medical Officer in minor surgery where applicable.
* Conduct health and well‑being clinics (smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol misuse) using health promotion, education, screening, and therapeutic communication skills.
* Monitor and improve standards through supervision, evidence‑based practice, clinical audit, research, and education.
* Act as a role model, delivering high‑quality practice and promoting clinical effectiveness.
Qualifications and Registrations
* Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) register.
* Current registrations and membership numbers as required.
* Must hold (or be willing to obtain) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult).
* Willingness to undertake role‑specific training (e.g., audiometry, ear care, minor injury/illness, physical assessment, travel health) and Defence Primary Healthcare/MOD training where appropriate.
Experience
* Post‑registration experience within primary healthcare.
* Experience in occupational health and military occupational health, including musculoskeletal medicine.
* Experience providing history taking, physical assessment, triage and treatment of minor injury/illness; immunisation, venepuncture, ear care, audiology, travel medicine, wound care, cervical screening.
* Experience leading and promoting health and well‑being clinics (smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol misuse, sexual health).
* Experience managing chronic illnesses (asthma, diabetes, CHD, hypertension) and maintaining chronic disease registers.
* Analytical skills to interpret data and inform patient care plans.
* Proficiency with relevant information technology systems.
* Strong oral and written communication skills and confidence in multidisciplinary teamwork.
* Ability to work autonomously, manage time, and prioritise workload effectively.
* Physical dexterity required for injections and other routine procedures.
