Design Technician - £30,000 - £35,000 - Clacton-on-Sea
A great opportunity is available for a skilled Design Technician to join a developing technical team. This role suits someone who enjoys collaborative working, solving design challenges, and producing accurate, high-quality technical drawings.
You'll be responsible for creating precise 2D and 3D models, supporting projects from concept to completion, and ensuring all design work meets required standards and deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret technical documents are essential, as you'll work closely with internal teams and external partners.
You'll also help refine internal processes, contribute to product development, and support the growth of design libraries. With opportunities to mentor junior team members and promote continuous improvement, this role offers both variety and impact.

Producing accurate 2D and 3D models and technical drawings
Applying engineering calculations and best practice to all design work
Working with project teams to ensure designs meet client and project requirements
Communicating clearly with internal colleagues and external stakeholders
Reviewing and interpreting detailed technical information
Taking responsibility for meeting deadlines and escalating issues early
Keeping all drawings, calculations, and records organised and up to date
Supporting process improvements and contributing to Lean/CI initiatives
Assisting with product development and standard design libraries
Sharing knowledge and supporting less experienced designersWhat We're Looking For:
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, structures, and specifications
Proficiency with Inventor or SolidWorks and AutoCAD (Revit/BIM is an advantage)
High attention to detail and accuracy in design work
A confident communicator who is comfortable presenting technical concepts
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Experience with document control systems (beneficial)
Knowledge of composite/GRP design (advantageous)
A proactive, adaptable and hands-on approach
