Engine Builder / Rebuilder
We are looking for an experienced Engine Builder / Rebuilder to join our workshop team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for stripping, diagnosing, rebuilding, and testing engines to a high standard, ensuring every unit leaves the workshop performing at its best. Working from technical manuals and build specifications, you’ll take pride in precision, quality workmanship, and a safe, organised working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strip down engines and diagnose faults, wear, and repair requirements
* Rebuild petrol and diesel engines to manufacturer and internal quality standards
* Assemble components with accuracy, following detailed build instructions
* Carry out inspections, measurements, and testing of rebuilt units
* Complete workshop documentation and record time accurately
* Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised work area
* Support continuous improvement across workshop processes
* Contribute to team problem-solving and knowledge sharing
Skills & Experience Required:
* Mechanical apprenticeship or relevant qualification in Engine or Mechanical Engineering
* At least 3 years practical experience in a busy workshop/production environment
* Proven experience rebuilding petrol and/or diesel engines in a workshop setting
* Strong understanding of engine components, tolerances, and diagnostic processes
* Ability to read and follow technical drawings and build specifications
* High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Understanding of workshop Health & Safety practices
Desirable (Not Essential):
* Experience with diesel inboard marine engines (training provided)
* Forklift licence
* Background in a production or fast-paced workshop environment
