SEN support officer

Location: Silverstone

Salary: £24,420 - £28,060 per annum

Job Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday (Term time only)

Hours: 8:15-4:45

Are you experienced in working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Are you passionate about making a positive difference in young people’s lives? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are working with an independent special school, catering for up to 40 pupils aged 11 to 19 with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The school is currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Education Support Worker to join their team.



Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and coordinate provision for individual pupils with SEN or disabilities
* Supervise and support pupils during break and lunch times, encouraging positive social interactions and promoting self-esteem
* Implement strategies to support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, developing a deep understanding of their SEN
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, following school policies and staff code of conduct
* Deliver parts of the learning programme to individual pupils as directed by teaching or wellbeing staff

* Consistently promote and safeguard pupil welfare
* Adhere to school policies and professional codes of conduct
* Inspire confidence and build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
* Maintain confidentiality and report concerns through appropriate channels

Essential Criteria:

* Experience working alongside SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
* Good general standard of education (GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent in English and Maths)
* Willingness to participate in training as needed
* Experience working with children and young people
* Ability to drive and willingness to transport pupils (must have business-use car insurance)
* Commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people
* Strong commitment to safeguarding

* Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (can be arranged via Teaching Personnel)
* Two most recent professional references covering the past 24 months
* Overseas Police Check if applicable (for candidates who have lived outside the UK for 6+ months in the last 5 years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
