About the Candidate
As well as the relevant experience, we are looking for an individual with the desire to push for continuous improvement, solving problems and inspiring those around them. You will need to be flexible in your approach and willing to maintain an up-to-date understanding of developments within the educational sector and/or industries pertinent to the College’s curriculum, students and locality. We are particularly interested in people with a strong pastoral background. You will supporting changemaker students to actively seek to create positive change in their community, workplace, or the world. They will identify challenges, take initiative, and implement solutions that improve lives.
About the Role
This is a fixed term maternity cover, and is a fantastic way for you to start your journey into Further Education. You will be a key member of a collaborative team, focusing on providing excellent learner experiences. You will be an enthusiastic and committed individual who will work closely with curriculum and student services staff to support the academic and personal development of our students.
The successful applicant will support a caseload of students. You will meet regularly with students, helping them improve their learning skills and achieve their personal targets, as well as to encourage, motivate, and support them to maximise their potential, achieve their learning and personal development goals, and progress to further/higher education, training or employment.
Part of the attraction of this post is the range of students you will be working with; it will involve setting academic and personal development targets, monitoring attendance and punctuality. Additionally, you will support students to develop strategies in study skills and organisation or aspects of behaviour, take part in volunteering, mentoring and leadership activities. You will work closely with those at risk / vulnerable and create intervention strategies to support their success.
Role Responsibilities
* Work with Curriculum Teams to ensure that all students within caseload know their current grade and target grade
* To work as part of a faculty team, to support students in their personal development, enabling them to become independent students who enjoy and are able to reach their full potential.
* To be aware of any safeguarding/vulnerable student needs and follow procedures for the higher duty of care required to these students.
* To provide students with information and guidance on how to access all forms of support available to them at the college including careers, financial, travel, accommodation and welfare support.
* Collaborate effectively with cross college staff including Programme Leaders, Curriculum Managers, student engagement, ALS, Intensive support and curriculum teams.
Qualifications
* Level 2 English and Maths and Level 2 Digital skills
* Level 3 Qualification
* Experience of working with a wide range of students in an educational setting.
* Experience of making effective use of learner progress tracking systems
* Experience of working with young people and adults with varying levels/ranges of ability
