Position Overview
The Town of Shrewsbury is seeking a skilled and motivated team member for the Parks & Cemetery Maintenance Division within the Department of Public Works. Responsibilities
* Operate equipment such as front-end loader, backhoe, dump truck, tractors, mowers, and more.
* Maintain athletic fields and parks, including mowing, fertilizing, and painting.
* Mark foundation locations for headstones and veterans’ markers.
* Ensure playground safety through maintenance and inspections.
* Inspect and repair irrigation systems and storm drains.
* Keep parks and cemetery grounds clean and presentable.
* Coordinate with contractors on public works projects.
* Respond to snow emergencies and other community needs.
* Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
* Assist residents with inquiries related to roadways and public properties.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
* Class B Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License and Massachusetts 2B Hoisting Engineer’s License.
* Knowledge of landscaping, equipment operation, and safety laws.
* Strong communication skills and a customer-friendly attitude.
* Ability to handle emergencies and be on-call as needed.
