This post will lead the development and delivery of a robust procurement and contract management function that will directly support the University’s ambitious goals. This is a unique opportunity to shape the procurement landscape from the ground up, designing fit-for-purpose policies, governance frameworks, and supplier management strategies.
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance, you will play a key leadership role in delivering value for money, driving cost efficiencies, and managing institutional risk. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the University, overseeing major procurement projects, embedding best practices, and providing expert advice on compliance and commercial governance. You will lead a small, dedicated procurement team, fostering a high-performing culture and building strong relationships with key suppliers. Additionally, you will coordinate the University’s Procurement, Contracts, and Commercial Governance (PCCG) group, ensuring strategic oversight of all procurement activities.
Responsibilities
* Develop and execute the University’s procurement and contract management strategy.
* Design and implement effective procurement policies, processes, and governance.
* Provide expert guidance and assurance to senior stakeholders and project teams.
* Lead high-value, complex procurement projects and manage key supplier relationships.
* Build and develop a capable, motivated procurement team.
* Produce insightful MI and reporting to demonstrate procurement performance and value delivery.
* Champion innovation, continuous improvement, and sustainable procurement practices.
Essential Requirements:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent senior-level experience.
* Significant leadership experience in procurement and contract management.
* Expertise in developing and delivering procurement strategies and governance frameworks.
* Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Proven ability to lead transformation and deliver value for money.
* Experience managing supplier relationships and delivering complex procurement projects.
