Core responsibility
The successful candidate will help develop and maintain customer‑focused digital platforms, ensuring digital services become the channel of choice for customers, residents, and partners in Barnsley. You’ll play a key role in delivering a high‑quality, user‑friendly experience across digital channels.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain the council website, designing and updating web content on behalf of council services. Ensure the site is accurate, up to date, and compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2
* Use low‑code/no‑code systems to build and maintain online forms that enable customers to report, apply, book, and pay for services online
* Develop and maintain the council’s chatbots, such as B‑Bot, providing customers with alternative ways to interact with the council
* Work collaboratively across council and partner services to design and deliver innovative ways of working that make the most of digital technologies
Required Qualifications
* A relevant Level 4 qualification or evidence of continuous professional development
* Digital confidence and experience in designing digital access channels such as websites, online forms, and chatbots
* Experience of engaging and consulting with key stakeholders, using strong interpersonal skills to create and edit digital content for a variety of audiences
* The ability to use analytics and customer feedback to inform the development of accessible, user‑friendly digital services
* Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and their importance for public sector websites
* Resilience, self‑motivation, and the ability to work to tight deadlines. Talent for communication, combined with a creative and innovative approach to service delivery
