Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Software Engineer – Motion Controls to be based at our customer’s site in Oxford.
Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
We are seeking a Motion Controls Software Engineer to support the integration and validation of Motion Control systems across vehicle platforms. The role involves coordinating system-level HW-SW integration, ensuring compatibility, and resolving interface issues between various vehicle electronic modules.
Area of Responsibility
1. Define and document core motion control concepts (architecture, control strategies, safety principles) to be applied across projects
2. Design and implement motion control algorithms for electric motors and robotic systems
3. Perform system commissioning and tuning, including PID parameter optimization and motor calibration
4. Collaborate with Hardware and Electrical teams to ensure seamless integration of control software with drives, sensors and actuators
5. Document software architecture, control strategies, and commissioning procedures for internal and external stakeholders
6. Ensure training and technical support of the company’s engineers
Knowledge / Experience
·Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Automotive Engineering.
·Strong experience in vehicle electronics integration, motion controls HW & SW development.
·Strong understanding of vehicle electrical architecture, communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet), and ECU integration.
·Experience with diagnostic tools, system validation, and issue resolution.
·Familiarity with automotive standards and functional safety principles.
·Good communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
