We’re still hunting for that unicorn – a genuinely standalone Estimator who enjoys owning the role and operating with real autonomy.
This is a new assignment with a client I know well. The Managing Director is one of the good ones: he trusts his people, supports them, and gives them the freedom to do their job properly. No micromanagement. No ego. Just a well-run business.
The company is a small, close-knit contractor (circa 10 people) delivering commercial and industrial fit-out projects between £500k and £3m. It’s a business where people communicate, collaborate, and pull together. No corporate noise, no unnecessary bureaucracy, no politics.
The Role
* Full responsibility for estimating fit-out projects
* Working closely with the MD and delivery team
* True autonomy and influence within the business
* Opportunity to be a key figure, not just a number
The Person
* Proven estimating experience within commercial / industrial fit-out
* Comfortable operating as a standalone Estimator
* Ideally based in or around Berkshire
* Values trust, accountability, and a team-first culture
This role won’t suit everyone. But if your current environment feels flat, over-processed, or lacking personality, this could be a genuine breath of fresh air.
If this sounds like you – or someone in your network – I’m happy to have a confidential conversation
