Your Impact:

In this role, you will shape the strategic direction of Health, Safety, and Sustainability (HSS) across a growing service organisation. You will ensure that as we scale, we do so responsibly, maintaining a strong People First culture where physical and psychological safety are treated as core business priorities.

This is a genuine opportunity to modernise how safety is understood, embed sustainable ways of working, and influence both internal teams and external partners to uphold the highest standards. You will:

* Lead and champion a Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) approach grounded in positive reinforcement, engagement, and shared accountability.
* Maintain and continually evolve our ISO 45001 H&S Management System to support the needs of a fast‑growing, dynamic organisation.
* Drive the identification and management of psychosocial risks, including stress, fatigue, and mental health, ensuring modern safety challenges are proactively addressed.
* Oversee incident Learning Reviews, shifting the focus from blame to systemic improvement and organisational learning.
* Act as the organisation’s Champion ensuring we meet all legislative requirements across multiple service locations.
* Oversee the HSS standards of Managed Portfolios & Partners, ensuring alignment with our People First expectations through audits, governance, and joint learning.
* Contribute to the delivery of our Sustainability and ESG roadmap, helping embed environmentally responsible practices and social value across the workforce.


You will be a great fit if you have:

* A hands‑on nature and willing to deliver operational safety tasks alongside strategic initiatives, recognising that our size requires both.
* Strong knowledge across Health, Safety, and Environmental practices, with the confidence to navigate both traditional HSE requirements and modern safety thinking.
* Experience engaging with large corporate clients, understanding their expectations, pressures, and ESG agendas.
* Motivation to drive significant positive change, helping us evolve into an industry‑leading organisation in safety, sustainability, and partner engagement.
* An understanding of client drivers beyond cost, including value‑add, service quality, ESG alignment, and how safety and sustainability directly influence their own objectives.
* The ability to influence suppliers and partners to uphold consistent standards, ensuring we demonstrate value across our entire delivery chain.
* A modern view of safety that includes psychological wellbeing, mental health awareness, and building trust across every level of the organisation.

Line Managers are responsible for promoting a safe working environment and ensuring their team follows Health & Safety policies. They provide guidance, training, and supervision, ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work are followed, address hazards promptly, report and support investigations of incidents, ensure staff have proper equipment and PPE, and lead by example to foster a positive safety culture.

Way of working: This is an Office based role at our offices in Henham, Bishop’s Stortford. Our working policy is 4 days a week in the office, with the ability to work 1 day from home.
