Designer / Artworker
Hull (HU3 area) | Permanent | £14.50 to £17.00 per hour
We are supporting a long-established, family-run signage manufacturer with over 60 years’ trading history. With in-house design, manufacture and installation, they are known locally for quality, stability and long staff tenure.
Due to a major new project win and a sharp increase in drawing output, the business is expanding its Drawing Office and looking to add an additional Graphic Designer / Artworker to stabilise workflow and protect delivery.
The Role
Working within a close-knit Drawing Office team of five, you will focus purely on high-volume artwork production and amendments.
Key responsibilities include:
Producing accurate visual artwork and layouts for signage projects
Amending and updating existing master files and templates
Creating proof visuals for internal approval
Working at pace to meet weekly output targets
Maintaining consistency and brand standards across large batches of designs
Liaising internally with Project Managers and fellow designers only
This role is about speed, accuracy and consistency, rather than creative concept work.
The successful designer will have
Experience in a graphic design or artwork role within a production, studio or manufacturing environment
Is comfortable working quickly and accurately across multiple jobs
Enjoys amend-based, repeatable design work
Has strong attention to detail and a reliable, grounded approach
Works well as part of a collaborative, trust-based team
Software Experience Essential
Experience using vector-based design software
Suitable software includes
CorelDRAW (preferred, training provided)
Adobe Illustrator
Affinity Designer
Inkscape or similar
Hours & Flexibility
35.5 hours per week as standard
Working hours flexed between 5:30am and 4:40pm
Trust-based approach to time management
Site-based role, with occasional home working possible once established
Flexibility to consider up to 37.5 hours if required
Pay & Benefits
£14.50 to £17.00 per hour, typical target around £16.00
Approx £29,536 per annum based on 35.5 hours
Permanent preferred, temp-to-perm considered
Pension with 5 percent employee contribution matched by 5 percent employer
20 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays
5 days reserved for Christmas shutdown
Holiday entitlement increases with service
