Learner Support - Pastoral Care (Ysgol Calon Cymru)
Salary: Grade 7 Point 15 to Point 19 £30,024 to £32,061 per annum pro rata • £15.56 to £16.61 per hour
Hours & Term: 32.5 hours per week / 39 weeks per year. Fixed-term until 17.07.2026.
We are seeking an inspirational, creative, and outstanding Learning Support Pastoral Care Officer to join our dynamic team and make a meaningful impact on the education and learning experiences of our learners.
The Role
As a Learning Support Pastoral Care Officer, you will be at the heart of supporting our pupils’ well-being and learning needs. You will be the first point of contact for learners requiring pastoral support, working closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure all students are supported.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide first-line pastoral support to learners
* Support learners with attendance, behaviour, and educational needs
* Act as a strategic link between the school, parents, carers, and external agencies
* Set and maintain high expectations of both learning and behaviour
* Work with pupils with additional learning needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, and General Learning Difficulties)
* Support the delivery of differentiated learning across multiple year groups
* Use multisensory and practical approaches to enhance understanding and concept retention
* Motivate learners to achieve their best work through praise and support
* Follow instructions effectively while using initiative to respond to learners’ individual needs
* Implement supportive behaviour strategies in line with the school’s ethos
* Be a positive, enthusiastic role model for learners and contribute actively to school life
What We are Looking For
* Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs, including ASD, ADHD, and General Learning Difficulties
* Strong understanding of nurture and behaviour management strategies
* A creative approach to differentiated learning and multisensory teaching
* A patient, empathetic, and nurturing attitude, with a good sense of humour
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
* Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with pupils, staff, and external partners
* A commitment to promoting high standards and positive outcomes for all learners
